TargetScan is a good application for any shooter to track their scores and provide some basic metrics. As with any app there are upsides and downsides.
Lets start with the upsides:
The app is fairly easy to use and does a very good job detecting holes and getting the score right. It does work even better with a white or blue backer behind the target. There are a good number of targets supported across many disciplines.
The downsides:
It is slightly cumbersome to set target and course of fire. It would be fantastic if there were another option with preset courses of fire. Such as ISSF 50Meter 3x600 or 3x1200, NRA conventional Prone 1600. As well as being able to define a course of fire.
Having multiple users via iTunes family sharing can cause some issues, one can overwrite the other etc.
It is expensive for an app although as long as we continue to see it supported through newer OS versions then I feel it is a justifiable purchase especially when you look at it considering the cost of plugs, journals to maintain notes, and then storing your targets for reference. That said I would love to see additional metrics added as well as potentially an interface to dump data to import into external applications.
I look forward to future updates. Thanks!
